Pat’s Thoughts:

South Carolina +10.5 vs Georgia

This is a great situation spot for the Cocks.  UGA is obviously an powerhouse team.  However, they lost two NFL starters at RB and their leader on D in Roquan Smith last year. They also have a starting DE out, and only 4 starters back on defense.

USC will be surprisingly good on offense.  Deebo Samuels is a special player at WR, and Rico Dowdell is more than solid at RB.  Recall the score last year was 24-10, and that was when USC was banged up and the game was in Athens.

It wouldn’t surprise me if UGA wins, but I would be very surprised if this one wasn’t close.

SC -2.5 @ Vandy

South Carolina is in pretty much the exact situation as MSU.  They are coming off a loss that has to have eaten at them for two weeks (they didn’t play last week due to the Hurricane).  They got their asses handed to them by Georgia, but it is probably time we realize that UGA is pretty damn good.

Vandy is coming off a heartbreaking loss to an extremely overrated Notre Dame team and are in an obvious let-down spot.  This is a better version of past Vandy teams, and they have a very good and veteran QB.

USC has the better overall talent, and will be the hunger team.  They also have beaten Vandy like eleventeen times in a row.  Lay the small number

USC pick @ UK

I’m riding with South Carolina one more time.  I have seen this story play out before.  Perennial scrub strings together a couple nice wins and squeaks into the top 25.  And then once they are there, they fall on their face.  I see this happening this week.  And let’s not forget that USC is good.  Sure, they got blasted vs UGA, but they dominated a decent Vandy team last weekend.  I don’t think people realize how good USC is as the UGA game is still fresh on everyone’s mind.  I think we are still buying low on the Cocks, and I want to sell high on UK.

Missouri +1.5 @ South Carolina

South Carolina got their teeth kicked in by UGA, had a bye, then beat the piss out of Vandy.  I think there is something to having two weeks of practice after a butt-kicking that focuses a team.  And lookie here, the exact same situation is playing out for Missouri…

I’m a big fan of Missouri (even though they allowed Purdue to get a backdoor cover on me a few weeks ago).  Their passing game is awesome, and they have probably the most underrated OL in the country.  They are good at stopping the run, but questionable stopping the pass.  That is a good matchup for them in this one as Jake Bentley and crowd have had a hard time moving it through the air.  There are even whispers that Bentley may get a quick hook if he starts out slow.

We are getting the better, more rested team with points.  We’ll take that every time.
