PAT’S THOUGHTS:

I have been waiting to pounce on Mizzou – and I think we finally got our chance.  Missouri is one of the hottest teams in college football that no one is noticing.  They won their last 6 regular season games last year – 5 of 6 in high scoring, blow-out fashion.  They won their first two that same way.  This is an offensive machine with QB Drew Lock and 5 returning OL. It was the #1 offense in the SEC last season (believe it or not).  On defense, it is hard to tell.  They throttled Wyoming and UT Martin.  They are supposed to do that.  There is talent on that side of the ball though as they led the SEC in tackles for a loss last year and had 33 sacks.  And 7 of those starters remain.
Purdue is a fraud.  We all like Jeff Brohm and his energy and entertainment value.  He has put a poor product on the field this year.  Evidence #1 – in each game his team had killer roughing the passer penalties late in the 4th which either put the dagger in Purdue or gave their opponent a 2nd life.  That is poor coaching.  Evidence #2 – They are rotating QBs.  The old adage is if you have 2 QBs you have none.  Brohm as a QB should know this.  Evidence #3 – they gave up 312 yards passing to Eastern Michigan in a loss.  They only have 4 returning starters from last year on defense.  If some cat named Wiegers does that to them, just think what Lock will do.  Evidence #4 – they have 5 turnovers in two games.  You gotta protect the egg…
Also, this is a revenge game for the Tigers as they got crushed last year 35-3 by Purdue.  While it is obviously I really like Missouri, I don’t like giving up a TD on the road, and I don’t like that the pub sees it the same way I do (72%).  Sometimes though, the public is right…
